120/366: Sparks

When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam,
May luck be yours on Halloween.
                                       - author unknown

Sparks.
Light candles.
Which placed inside.
An expertly carved pumpkin.
Create a glowing.
Awesome.

A horrible cough and sore throat.

I am sharing with you.

While on vacation last week.

One of my favorite books.
Is Pride and Prejudice.

Last week.
I attended
A Jane Austen inspired.

118/366: Someone I Admire

Meet Memphis.
Sweet.
Happy.
Brave.
Giver of excellent hugs.
Ridiculously cute.
With a laugh that is contagious.

I hope that I always.
Look at the world
With as much wonder.
As this sweet boy.

117/366: Trash to Treasure

I am camera-less tonight.
So I am posting an iPhone pic.
A self portrait.

My lovely friend Davina.
A trained professional.
Fixed my self cut side sweep bangs.

I don't have a before picture for you.
But trust me.
When I say.
She truly created a masterpiece.
From a pile of rubble.

And then she gave me ice cream.
I have awesome friends.
Awesome.

116/366: Brunettes

Blond.
Brunette.
Auburn.
Ombre.
Today the color.
Doesn't matter.

It's all about.
The love.

And when these three.
Are around.
The love...
Is contagious.

114/366: Babies

A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?
                                                                                            - John Grogan

Meet Millie:
Daughter of Jeffrey and Davina.
Sister of Jackson and Memphis.
Hostess.
With the mostest.

113/366: Dirt

The greatest gift of the garden, is the restoration of the five senses.
                                                        - Hannah Rion

I couldn't agree more.
In this case.
Sweet potatoes become sweet potato fries.
Which are most excellent.
For the senses.

112/366: An Image from a Dream

I barely had a chance to sleep last night.
Let alone dream.
A late night.
Coupled with an early morning flight.
Made for sparse and dreamless sleep.

Yet, when I woke.
The world was silent.
The sun came up over the most beautiful.
Lovely fog.
Shades of Pink.
Gold.
Orange.
Red.
It was brilliant.

I felt that I was in a dream.
One of those rare moments.
When you are certain.
You will never see this exact moment again.

As it slips away.
You grasp at the last few seconds.
Trying to sear it to your memory.
So that you won't forget.

Even while doing so.
Knowing.
You will never be able to accurately.
Describe this sight.
Exactly as it was.

111/366: Funny Faces

My little brother got married today!
Here is a shot.
Of the groom.
With my darling husband.
And their funny fisheye faces.

110/366: Unexpected Beauty

One of the things I love the most.
About my visiting my Grandparents.
Is my Grandmother's ability.
To add simple.
Beautiful touches.
Where you least expect it.

Like a sprig of dried Sweet Annie.
Grown in the backyard.
Dried in the garage.
Hung fragrant and lovely.
On the back of door.
With an aged clothes pin.
Where you least expect it.

109/366: Favorite Movie

There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination.
Living there, you'll be free if you truly wish to be.

108/366: An Artist

Meet Maurice.
A super cool dude.
An amazing photographer.
A friend.
We are fortunate to see.
A couple of times a year.

You.
Can find him here.
Dutchman Photos

I.
Can find him in my living room.
At least for a few more days...

107/366: A Timepiece

My first watch.
Was a dainty Mickey Mouse.
With a narrow brown band.
A gift from my grandparents.
It still works.
Occasionally.
I still wear it.

105/366: Mirrors

I love mirrors.  They let one pass through the surface of things.

103/366: Opposites - Near and Far

Tonight.
As I was driving home from work.
The most beautiful.
Foggy.
Marine layer rolled in.

I thought to myself.
When I get home.
The hubs and I are going to the beach.
To shoot.

When I pulled in.
To my surprise.
My husband was already outside.
Cameras in hand.

So we went to the beach.
And shot.

Near.

Far.

Some others.
Of a foggy beach.
In the afternoon.

102/366: A Favorite Song

Tonight.
We saw The Foo Fighters.

Best. Show. Ever.

By some divine.
Twist of fate.
The topic I was given for today's blog.
By the random list generator...
A favorite song.

Here is Everlong.
Live...
From L.A.

101/366: On My Block

My street.

The flower that poked through the fence.
As a bud.
And finally bloomed.
On my birthday.

The fire hydrant.
That earned me.
My first California parking ticket.

100/366: Plastic

Growing up.
If there was a big event.
Swim meet.
Vacation.
Road Trip.
Anything.
That required us to wake early.
My Dad would crank up the stereo.
With Janis Joplin.

Cry Baby at 5am.
Immediately followed.
With Piece of My Heart.
Janis and Daddy.
Belting it out.
At the top of their lungs.

By they time they made it.
To Bobby McGee.
I had stopped grumbling.
And was rolling out of bed.

I complained of course.
Who wouldn't?
Yet I always look back.
On those wake up calls.
With a smile.

99/366: Weather

Why is it.
Whenever there is a horrible weather event.
They send some poor guy.
Out to stand.
In the 100 mph winds.
And rain.
In a suit.
To talk about.
How windy and wet.
It is outside.

98/366: Wheels

Everytime I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race.

97/366: Hobbies

I am a girl.
Of many hobbies.
So many.
That we recently gutted.
Our guest room closet.
So that I could better store.
Fabric.
Yarn.
Ribbons.
Notions.
Cameras.
Flashes.
Sewing machines.
Sequins.
Books.
Doo Dads.
Knick Knacks.
Stuff.

We finished it today.
I am.
Over the moon.
With delight.
It might not be much.
To you.
But to me.
It pretty much rocks.

96/366: A Daily Occurrence

At least once a day.
I ask my husband.
My co-workers.
Whoever is in earshot.
No one in general.

Where did my keys go?
Where is my phone?

You would think by now.
I would have figured out.
A better system.
A designated pocket.
In the purse.
The table by the front door.
Something.
Anything.

I will think I finally have it mastered.
A plan in place.
And then.
The next day.
As we are walking out the door.
I will ask my husband.
Honey, have you seen my phone?

95/366: Something Sweet

It always amazes me.
How we intertwine memories.
With other senses.
Tastes.
Sights.
Smells.
Objects.

I have a sweet tooth.
As such, different treats...
Remind me of people.
Places.
Times in my life.

Cowtails remind me of my Grandfather.
Who would stop at the corner store.
On the way home from work.
And come home with the caramel and cream treats.
In his shirt pocket.

Swedish Fish remind me of summers spent.
At the neighborhood pool.

Jell-O cake makes me think of my Mom.
Who always made sure.
That I had a cherry Jell-O cake.
Each year on my birthday.

Ben and Jerry's - College.
When I first discovered the wonderful goodness.
Of Phish Food.

Jelly Belly jelly beans.
Those make me smile.
With thoughts of my husband.
Simply because he loves them.

Earlier this week I traveled for work.
One stop on my travels...
A candy store.
Where I discovered a wall.
Of Jelly Belly's.

Just under a pound of which.
Traveled back to California in my bag.
Happy Husband.

94/366: Disneyland

It's raining.
Not a night for Disney.
So we improvised.
Snuggled inside.
With wine.
Mickey Ears...
and some Pac Man.

92/366: Lightbulbs

I can't stand a naked light bulb, anymore than I can a rude remark or a vulgar action.

91/366: Fun

Today I got to do something.
I haven't had a chance to do in years.
A fall road trip.
With my Mom.
What could be.
More fun than that?
